Mosaic September Meeting Notes 9-13-2017
We had a wonderful meeting at Kristin’s house. Thank you Kristin for hosting.
Thank you all who came and brought your September mosaic challenge to share. We had a variety of pieces that inspired us all.
Below is a list of important dates and names of people who have volunteered to receive mosaics and hang the show. If you feel that you are shown at a date or time that is not going to work for you please get back to me right away.
Drop off your mosaic(s).
Volunteer’s for Wed. 11:00 to 4:30 and Thursday 9:30 to 4:30
25th Janet Houck and Judy Sell – 11:00 to 2:00 ish
Kristin Dieng and Donna Brolander – 2:00ish to 4:30
26th Maria Durnbaugh, Trudy Vrchota and Lisa Vitkus from 9:30 to 1:00ish
26th Afternoon: Janine Irisarri, Barb Steen, Debra D’Souza, Shawn Wiski ,
Rachel Arntson and Natalie McGuire 12:00ish to 4:30
The show will need to be fully installed by the end of the day on the 26th.
The art center provides the tools we need but it might be good to have a couple of tape measures with you. I will verify that they have enough hammers, nails a level etc.
De install on December 4th from 9:30 to 4:30: Maria, Janet and Rachel have volunteered. We will all need to pick up that day or find someone who can pick up your pieces.
Reminder- Artists need to attend the full reception
Reception is Oct. 29th 12 to 2:30.
I need Mosaic titles (exactly as you want it to appear on a Title Plate) materials used in your mosaic, artists name and price by Oct. 13th.
Who wants to have a mosaic at the library? We have room for 7 mosaics, but there is additional paper work that needs to be filled out. Our group does not have to hang these pieces. They use the Walker system and art has to be able to hang off a hook. This will be a first come basis so let me know ASAP.
We will have the Starry Night mosaic ready to hang at the Phipps and the original framed poster will be hung next to it. Donna is going to have a description of how 12 artists collaborated on the piece and highlight the styles and materials that artists use in their work.
I have asked for 5 pedestals at this time. If you have a mosaic that will need a pedestal for display please let me know.
We are not making up separate post cards but Amy is contacting Maria in regards to having the show listed on the blog with a picture of Starry Night. Kristin is working on a Facebook events page.
Please tag your mosaic on the front with tape. Name of piece and artist.
November 8th at Susan Mathis, Planning meeting for 2018. Come with some ideas for challenges or activities that we can do at upcoming meetings.
The Christmas potluck is at Rachel Arntson’s home and she has invited anyone who is interested to spend the day there working on mosaics, stay for the potluck and even the night if you would like. Depending on weather that could be a great option.
A reminder that the split is 60/40 so you know how you want to price your mosaics.
I will update the artists list and send it out shortly.
