Volunteers for drop off and/ or hanging the show-

Rachel will drop off mosaics if you coordinate getting them to her. She will drop them off on 7/9 or 7/10. We need more drop off people PLEASE.

At this time the following people have volunteered to hang art:

Susan Mathis, Kristen Dieng, Maria Durnbaugh, Barb Steen and myself.

Those hanging art can just deliver their pieces that day. You can see if any of us can bring additional pieces on the 12th but the center would like as many pieces as possible earlier in the week.

Volunteers for food and drink -

The center will provide 4 bottles of wine, water, grapes and cookies.

I will plan on purchasing some candy and cookies. If anyone wants to do more please let me know.

I will need to know who will be participating in the show by this Friday June 21st. I have gone back thru my emails to see who had shown an interest. Some on this list have responded recently and some responded last year. If I have you listed and you have decided not to participate in this show please send me an email to say that you have changed your mind. If you are participating please follow up with how many pieces you want to show, the size of the mosaics and for the center to make the title plates I will need Artist name, Title of piece, Date made, Price or NFS and Medium.

Yes to the show:

Lisa Ferguson, Susan Mathis, Shelley Beaumont, Rachel Arntson , Lisa Vitkus, Shawn Wiski, Kristin Dieng, Kelly Holzer, Laura Lee, Natalie McGuire, Barb Steen, and Maria Durnbaugh.

I have sent the contract to you all to review. Please make sure you are comfortable with it.

We discussed the Red Wing Show for quite some time. I will follow up with some of our discussion on this show later this week. Anyone who was at the meeting and wants to send me their ideas for this show (especially the community project) I welcome your participation. Thank you Susan for your thoughts.

Red Wing Show in 2020

I asked Emily at Red Wing what kind of project they would like us to be involved in.

Hi Emily- I wanted to follow up with you because I have a mosic meeting coming up and it is the last meeting until September. I would like to address what you would like to see in a workshop. Would it be a demonstration or actually have people participate in creating a mosaic? Or just a talk with a slide show? Several of our members teach classes. Once we have more info from you we can get some costs pulled together.

Her answer-

“Ideally I would like to have a public art project done by the workshop participants such as a bench or a wall. We are exploring the options as to where and how. I sincerely would like your input as to what you feel would work with this regards. I was thinking an all-day or weekend event. Again – I would like your guidance as to what you feel would work.”

In the contract they asked us to do an artist demonstration.

What we discussed:

Issue of distance to Red Wing for an all weekend project.

How many people would be interested in working on a project?

What costs need to be covered and what would be a good project that could be completed in a day (two days)?

Red Wing providing insurance to cover any damages to person or property.

Glass on Glass Challenge- Several people took on this challenge. Thanks for bringing your beautiful mosaics.

Italy Trip Discussion- Shawn and Rachel shared the highlights of their trip. Thanks for sharing.

Future Meetings:

  • September- Lisa Vitkus home- Mosaic can be any size. Theme is a city scape. It can be a metropolis or a small town or anything in between.

  • November- Susan Mathis home- We plan on having each artist making a square for a quilt. Unlike the Monet and Van Gogh challenge we will not have all the quilt squares kept together, but we may hang them together at a show if there is enough participation. We have not narrowed down a theme or color scheme and it was agreed that we need to have a common tile used for the borders of each square.
