February Mosaic Meeting Notes 2019

Thank you Laura Lee for hosting our meeting. I think this is the third time you have opened your home to us, so it is really appreciated.

Hopkins show:

March 26th- deliver art and install – Delivery between 8:00 and 12:00 noon.

The building opens at 8:00 and I will confirm that delivery can start that early.

I hope that people can have other artists drop off their mosaics if you can’t get to the center between those hours. Ideally we will have it all hung by the end of that day so that is why we are tightening up the drop off times.

I mentioned at the meeting that I hope that we can have each artist submit two pieces and as I get more response as to who wants to be in this show I can firm that up. I also am allowing anyone who is volunteering to help receive art, hang art or help with the pick up to have a third piece in the show (if there is enough space).

Receive mosaics from 8:00 to 12:00 on the twenty-sixth- Kelly Holzer has volunteered.

Install people on 26th so far- Kristen, Shelley, Janine, Natalie, Amy and myself.

Pick up mosaics on May 12th- Laura Lee volunteered. I need to get the time frame for the pickup.

If anyone wants to volunteer as a backup person for any of the above positions that would be great.

Hopkins provides food by the main gallery on the lower level. It should be enough food that we do not need to add to it. Because we are upstairs I want to have a large bowl of rapped chocolates for our guests.

Mirror Challenge- A few of us did the challenge and it was fun to see each person’s take on it. It is never too late to participate. If you have a mirror mosaic ready for the April meeting please bring it.

Red Wing 2020-

We discussed this show because the contact (Emily) is working on the MSAB learning grant. “We are trying to connect the needs of fine art training in our rural community to our exhibits in 2020. What would you/a guild member artist expect for compensation to hold a workshop?”

I need to know who would be interested in planning and giving a work shop. Please let me know what you would be proposing and an idea of what you would want to charge. I can submit ideas to Emily. I will also ask Emily if they had thoughts on what kind of a work shop would best fit their communities’ desires.

April 10th is our next meeting and it is at Kristen Dieng’s home. Our challenge is to make any 3D piece (trinket box, vase, sculpture, candlestick holder etc.).

Who plans to be in the Hopkins show? How many pieces would you like to have in the show? Any large pieces? I have listed the people that I have heard from. It is getting close so if you are not listed and wish to be please let me know ASAP.
