April 2017

Notes from Mosaic Meeting on April 12th, 2017

We had a great turn out. Thank you all for coming to the coffee shop. Lisa Ferguson has several pieces of art hanging there right now. Lisa said that other artists could contact her if they are interested in showing their work at the Hopkins coffee shop or a second store in Shakopee. There is a nice large wall with metal grids that makes it easy to install your work. Lisa can give you details as to the percentage that the coffee shop takes on sales and the length of installations.

Hudson Hospital Show

The title of the show will be One Piece at a Time- Healing Moments in Art

We went over some of the information that was in my last email to the group.

Barb Steen and I will be one contact point for dropping off mosaics for delivery. People who are close to my Eden Prairie location can call me or email me per dropping off your mosaics.

Ann Chisnell volunteered for the north end. She lives in Ham Lake and you can contact her if drop off to her is convenient.

We could use another person (maybe in Mpls.) to volunteer to drop of a group of mosaics.

Anyone else will have to drop off their mosaic between 4:00 and 7:00 on May 10th.

These are the artists who have let me know that they plan on showing a mosaic (or two) at the show.

Include this information- Artist name/ Title of mosaic/ size/ Medium

Show and discuss garden Art- Several people brought items that they created for a garden. We had a nice variety of objects that gave us all inspiration for our gardens. Thank you all for sharing.

June meeting- The June meeting on the 14th is at my house (more info will follow). All members that are participating in the Starry Night challenge should bring their section. If you don’t think that you will make it to the meeting please plan to drop it off before the meeting so we can put all the pieces together. We will have a materials swap that night for anyone interested in joining in for that. You can bring any mosaic materials, books or tools that you may not have any use for and swap for someone else’s cast offs.

Hopkins art submittal started-

Maria has said that she would make up a CD of a representation of some of our work for a submission to the Hopkins Art Center, hopefully for a show in 2019.

Please send any images to Maria that you want considered for the submission. I have asked Maria to make a decision on what photos she uses. You will need to provide all the info that you are providing for the Hudson show but also have the date that the mosaic was completed.
